X, the social platform previously referred to as Twitter, is apparently obstructing links to Signal, the encrypted messaging platform, according to reporter Matt Binder and other direct accounts.

Binder composed in his Disruptionist newsletter Sunday that links to Signal.me, a domain that provides a method to link straight to Signal users, are obstructed on public posts, direct messages, and profile pages. Mistake messages– consisting of “Message not sent,” “Something went wrong,” and profiles tagged as “considered malware” or “potentially harmful”– provide no direct idea of a block. Posts on X, reporting at The Verge, and other sources recommend that Signal.me links are broadly prohibited.

Signal.me links that were currently published on X prior to the current modification now reveal a “Warning: this link may be unsafe” interstitial page instead of opening the link straight. Hyperlinks to Signal manages and the Signal homepage are still working on X.

Binder, a previous Mashable press reporter who was as soon as obstructed by X (then Twitter) for reporting on owner Elon Musk and accounts associated to his personal jet travel, credited the very first reports to security research study company Mysk.
