what does smart home mean and how do you build your own smartphone and what are the advantages how can i implement it in my own home we now answer these and many other questions in this video [music] hello and welcome to a new video my name is jan and today it's about the topic of smart home first of all i would like to say thank you again very briefly for all the new subscribers who have now joined this channel many many thanks and of course also for the many constructive comments and the constructive feedback I received that helps definitely a lot further for everyone out there and of course i was also able to learn a little something in this video we will now devote ourselves to the topic of smart home so we will take a look at that a bit maybe many people out there will say okay i have it now just got a condo or apartment or a home and would like to have everything a little bit smart n make it smarter it's always such a buzzword what you hear but what does smart home actually mean and what has it to do with it and we defend ourselves a little by looking at what is what can you do how can you really just get in and I will Of course we will also show you how the whole network technology can of course be raised a bit so look forward to an exciting presentation that I have prepared for you and I would say we jump straight into the presentation smart home for beginners this is how you build your smart home sensibly in this video I would like to give you a little guide on how the whole thing works, how you can make the state in a smart home, what you have to pay attention to and towards the end when we look again at how you could otherwise theoretically build a smart home, what is there As for components, what can you pay attention to, we will find out everything in this video and I would say we start right away with the first slide before we start with smart home before we talk about smart home i would like to first classify you where this term comes from you have to know that smart home is just one area in the internet of things so this is what you might already know heard somewhere it is also called the internet of things i call it internet of things here and internet of things defines all devices that are connected or networked with the internet in a wide variety of fields of application and i would now like to explain these different fields of application to you briefly so that you also know where you can find all these let me say things on the one hand we have the topic of smart city here, that means the networked city of the future you want to say, there is something like, for example, the trash can of status information can send when it is full and clear, for example ch garbage disposal say hey i'm full he me please or also for example a street lamp that somehow sends an error code if it doesn't light up and all these things there are very, very many areas of application only this goes on very briefly on the side to the topic of smart city it's the smart arica topic, so yes, the greenhouse of the future, if you want to say where the plants are automatically watered, so to speak, and where the current wax status is called up via cameras, how they are developing or, for example, in fields where you then for example, threatening the overflight makes to see how well it is doing now, how good the field is growing and where you might have to add something a bit younger then we also have the smart factory topic here i imagine a worker in front of the two car manufacturers on the assembly line stands and has a networked cordless screwdriver that is also partly the case with the automobilhers plate so that they are then networked and that the cordless screwdriver saves state information about which screw and what torque has been screwed in where and that can of course then be used afterwards, but then there is the topic of ehealth, i.e.

The hospital of the future where of course then Doctors can access findings and where hospitals are then perhaps also networked with each other, not only within the hospital but also beyond, so that of course the user or the doctor always has the most up-to-date information about the patient and perhaps also via algorithms or artificial intelligence even suggestions for treatment or corresponding information are then given another topic which, of course, many of you may already see is automated and autonomous driving, that means the networked car, we already have a normal lte connection in many cars these days g but of course that will be much more in the future when the 5g technology has made a bit more progress and you can of course regulate many things via 5 g and the car will be networked even more, so to speak, but not only cars but, for example also the infrastructure such as traffic lights and a question in the future whether you will still need traffic lights at all if of course everything drives autonomously but that only marginally that would now have this video to talk about and of course the last topic in the beauty area is of course that topic smart home and we will of course deal with that only for the sake of completeness there are certainly many other fields of application that take place in the beauty sector but I have now tried to look for the most well-known ones if you know other fields for this probably say yes that also interesting times like to write a comment un ter this video so now we have smart home and if you look at all the fields now it is actually the aim of the internet sings to automatically record relevant information from the real world, to link it together and make it available in the network so that again the definition for the internet of things or the goal of this whole internet of things what does the smart home mean in concrete terms we have already seen here in the context that there are different fields of application and you can say that all devices that are connected to the internet in your own home belong in my opinion, to a smart home and which i can control via my smartphone, for example, but of course also status information such as weather data or some other state name that i can call up somehow, i can of course get it on my smartphone, for example, and of course certain automation on it make and how to s otherwise wait builds up we'll come to that later and the shampoo and later a little closer in detail before we now look at how you can set up a smart home what you have to do specifically for that is a short insertion on the subject of knx can't do anything also in the standard which is a bit longer which is also very common in the smart home area and maybe one or the other electrician will say if you ask him hey make a smart home for me yes then you need a lot first of all i can i am him opinion that there is no iks for smart homes these days i say my private context is no longer really used because i simply think that on the one hand the license costs are far too high to somehow control a few devices at all then the knx standard is exclusive wired and beyond that, I would say the entry hurdle is really high for the average consumer because you then of course you have to be familiar with programming installation and these things are not necessarily, let me say, so user-friendly, so it’s not like with a smart home what I have about, for example, philips sap or something that I get completely configured within five minutes and where I don't need much knowledge and is also an older standard that is actually not used that often anymore I do n't think it 's used igstadt mostly on a professional scale when it comes to networking large office buildings and still to make it a bit smarter then that makes sure maybe nothing to be used at all but i find for the private scope also for the house or so i don't find anything at all just not the right standard how do you think that says your local i have my whole house with knx networking totally super feel free to write my comment below really I am interested in what your opinion is about.

I am of the opinion that, in principle, the smart home issue should only be implemented via radio standards because they are now also very advanced and yes, with zigbee, for example, you have a very good smart home standard, but that would be us let's take a closer look in detail what the entry into smart home looks like now my idea is to start with the subject of lighting, for example, because you can see very quickly whether it works or not because the light is either on or off without, of course, always something in between and how to do it now, I've given you a bit of an example here, of course, there are certainly a lot of other options, but I'd just like to explain it here using simple examples, we sort of have them here our router and an internet connection if you still have it h don't know how the whole thing works with house wiring etc.

Feel free to look at the playlist I've also made other videos on the subject of wifi and also on the subject of network cabling in the house, what do you have to watch out for, so you're welcome to check it out in the top right corner and we we have our mother here who is connected to the internet and in order to be able to implement this smart lighting or smart lighting as it is called in technical terms, I first need a gateway, so to speak, and this gateway is ultimately nothing more than a translator from the signals into the year in zigbee so zigbee is sort of the wlan standard for smart lighting, but of course there are also many smartphone devices that run over wlan, so you always tend to have a mixed operation and it's via zigbee that i kind of need the zigbee gateway, that means I need it once you can imagine it in the end like in routers where you qua si uses to control your lamps and which emits this zigbee radio signal, so to speak, with which you can ultimately control your light in the smart home you simply connect the whole thing via a network plug or network cable to the router so that of course the zigbee gateway also has one has a connection to the router and of course also a connection to the internet because that is of course important so that i can also use smart home functionalities on the go that if you look at it again in detail then the next thing to come are all the lamps there most different forms of lamps meanwhile, so they all run on zigbee for the most part and the cool thing about the zigbee standard is that every lamp or every zigbee device that also extends the signal means we don't have the problem here, for example with wifi, that if i set my router in the basement so that I might not receive anything in the roof ng more with zigbee, the signals from each end device, for example from each lamp, are automatically passed on, which of course means that the coverage with the radio signal is always very good if you spread it over an entire house, that is, if you have it Of course you have a much more stable solution than you would, for example, only with WiFi and that looks good then somehow in your street the third neighbor the third house could theoretically still receive from you but that 's really he so limited to home use to the house so actually the perfect radio solution for your own home let's take a look below there I have you now briefly the philips sap appears and with it you can set up a smart home or smart lighting accordingly the cool thing about it is that you can also, for example, integrate ikea lamps into the philippines if you are interested in how the whole thing works feel free to write and comments and i might make a reminder jungle video because that is also very interesting because then you really have everything in one app has and what makes this smart this smart lighting so special compared to normal lighting yes i can not only turn it off but i can also set the intensity i.e.

The dimmer intensity i.e. whether i let my lamp run at ten percent or to 50 percent and of course you can configure it accordingly or if you have lamps that also have rgb leds in them, for example, then you can of course also use them to play with the colors and build different scenes, so you really have a lot of design options there and there are also nor the possibility, for example, to add rooms Egen so that I can say ok the lamps are now for the dining room in this five hallway but of course there are also a few additional devices and then of course the whole thing will be much more exciting or maybe the whole thing will be a bit more it is clear why it actually makes sense to make such a smart lighting basically it's like that I do n't have any lamps kennedy led so actually all smart lamps are somehow with leds that means you can of course do things like that and different ones without any problems setting colors in addition to the classic lamps in smart lighting, there are also a few clever additional things such as hand switches that are on the wall, i.e.

I can place this switch almost anywhere on the wall. I don’t have to live with any cables because this switch doesn’t need electricity if If I press it, it generates electricity, like where, and that's bra I'm just looking for no no cold no power cables lying there and of course I can carry everything over them that's also the good thing that I can think about it at almost any time ok this switch should now control the sales or it should do this and that I can reconfigure it at any time and get binder completely flexible against if i have a permanent electrical installation say exactly where it is ok if i press the switch then exactly the strip in the kitchen comes on or that goes on or the socket so you can really do a lot there and then there is there is another very good ikea shortcut switch from ikea called the whole thing that means it can't call up ready-made scenes that means as an example I can then, for example, control several devices at the same time that means if I say netflix and chill, for example, takes the light automatically lower the roulades lower the tv turns on in the kitchen the light is off I can then configure switches and things like that with the push of a button and less, as I said, completely flexible in terms of design, in addition to the surface-mounted switches, there are also under-plaster switches, which means that if I already have a light switch plugged in somewhere, I can ultimately make it smart by me because simply this flush-mounted switch a farmer and you can also have a look at ikea there is the traditional team that is just this complete smart home system where there are of course other things then there are other interesting accessories that I can of course use on the one hand for example, how the smart is a motion detector that cannot be configured via the philips sap and with that I can set it as an example that yes when I'm in the hallway and come home and I'm packed and maybe do n't have a hand free for not switch that we don't open the door automatically turns on the light but i can create interesting scenes here too so that i can say okay if, for example, i have to go to the toilet at night and walk through the hallway it might not turn on the full lighting or that only certain lights turn on and then maybe they only turn off 20 percent of the brightness compared to before and which is of course also good the motion detectors also always realize how bright it is in the surroundings and depending on how bright it is at the moment the lamp goes on or not anymore so that when I am now during the day somehow the lights go out down the hall but when the motion detector realizes where it's getting darker outside then it doesn't go on automatically so that I haven't pressed a switch on the fly for what feels like the last four years and what you can of course find that can be adjusted I am also very interested in how long the light should be on, for example I have two unders Different scenes for at night, the light should be on for a shorter time and then go off again automatically, and maybe a little longer during the day or in the evening, so that when you are in the hallway then of course it stays on for a long time and then goes off automatically is there another story like wireless sockets that's just a great thing if you have things, for example, you don't have anything on the market yet, they could then be solved via so-called wireless sockets, of course we also have a smart feature via the philips sap or via the keb, for example, i used it to control my christmas lights so that i can switch on my christmas lights outside straight away from my smartphone or just have a part we can install and say ok every day from no idea 5 p.m.

To 10 p.m Christmas lights go on automatically because those are things that can be done you can also do it wonderfully that you really build timer events and then of course you can also deal with them very well, but there are also many other functions such as for example that when I come home the light comes on automatically scenes are started automatically there are a lot of things or for example when i leave the light goes out automatically that is then realized via the location of my smartphone so there are a lot of options you can just take a look for yourself in the philips sap then be the last a tip or as a last addition to things, of course, the classic light bulbs, the smart led light bulbs are seg ocd 720 etc.

Met which I can simply screw into existing systems and which are then immediately smart when you look, of course, the whole thing is not exactly right now cheap, especially with philips, it's already good, solid, expensive, I'd say, but e there are now very good cheap alternatives at ikea in particular, if you really want to get into them, there are usually starter sets with the gateway and two lamps and so on, so that we can really try them all on a small scale products and everything I show you can also be found in the video description I have linked all the products again so that you can look at the whole thing again in detail now that you know how the topic of smart lighting in the smart home area works i would like to zoom out a bit and try to explain or sketch to you how you can think holistically in your own home as i said no guarantee of completeness there are so many things out there that you can do and if i what should have forgotten 1 comment what you can add to what maybe also useful is t as I said, there are now so many smart home products that you can really quickly lose track of them.

Let’s start with the usual suspects, white goods, for example the refrigerator, the washing machine or the dishwasher, of course everyone probably has smardtv at home by now and of course alexa and co, who of course also act as a smart home device or as a voice gateway, so to speak, let's look at the topic of power supply in this smart home next time there is in our my own home has a lot of consumers so that the electricity the electricity the electricity bill is probably not low and then of course one or the other will say okay I’m going to build a photovoltaic system on the roof upstairs so that I can also generate my own electricity to lower my electricity bill a bit me think many of you probably have Do you already have photovoltaics on the roof or are you in the process of planning? Feel free to write in the comments If you have resistance, I hope that you are already busy expanding and these photovoltaic systems are already smart in a way, which means I can of course because you can use an app to call up how much energy has been generated, how efficient it is, etc.

And the whole thing will probably simply be connected to andy haus ans haus network overland and you will then also get the information on your iphone app and can then get into things accordingly, we come to a point that we may not yet have on our screens, apart from photovoltaics, which i would like to outline a bit here, namely the so-called smart meter or smart electricity meter there is the analogue electricity meter there is a digital electricity meter and there is a smart electricity meter and the smart st rom meter ultimately also has an internet connection as the name suggests, that means it has an lte module in it or you can also connect it via the tanzhaus network and the cool thing about its smart meter is that the crap keeps all consumption in the house and can tell you then it's super easy to show which device uses how much so that analyzes it really well and you've clearly packed the whole thing together in one app and what I think is cool is that when you say okay I want something like this and a power consumption of more than 1500 kw per year, then you can even get the whole thing subsidized by the federal government, so of course we don’t have any costs for the installation, so if you want to have other tenants now, discovergy said I need it installed with the market Of course it can take a bit until the bite of the specialist company then installs the thing for you but then n you can simply display the whole thing via the apps, what how much electricity does it use, of course, a certain yes a certain fee that you have to pay here, but I think it’s less than five euros a month so it’s still manageable and if you do, of course see what uses how much and say channel ok somehow i'm realizing that the device is consuming a lot of electricity then maybe something is n't right and could of course also save a lot in terms of electricity consumption in general in addition to the smart meters for the upper house I'll say the normal electricity meter is also available from discovergy, everything for photovoltaics, so theoretically you could also have a second smart meter installed, which is then only responsible for things related to photovoltaics, where of course you also have further information on the history of photovoltaics and you can also get information about power generation e excess energy that you might not be able to feed in could of course also be transferred to battery storage if you think further battery storage is currently still quite expensive, which means that it is currently still a large investment sum I think it was also over time that will probably always be the case become cheaper and there will always be new providers offering this battery storage, so to speak, and if you then think one step further in the direction of electromobility, then of course you very quickly come to the conclusion that hey if I use all my excess energy to work this battery storage you can I also use it to charge an electric car, for example to say okay I have so much energy, you battery storage, I currently need it for the house, so I can charge my electronic devices with it, of course, it can also be a lot in the future Eight then somehow electric cars as I would say use mobile battery storage so that we are at home since then and then suddenly the electricity price is a bit more expensive that then maybe even energy from an electric car is used for the house at the same time, so that’s what you see nowadays you can already do that in a few places and i think it will become very interesting and there will be a lot of things that are still being developed and i think we are only at the beginning here i think this will be a really exciting topic also has to become a bit self-sufficient and I think one or the other of you out there is already really keen on doing it a bit self-sufficient and then of course being able to move a bit independently of everything that is the whole construct of the power supply power generation is really cool, but in the end you still need an s electricity provider so and there i have a very good recommendation for you, namely the top topic is an app and a smart electricity tariff with which you can also bill almost every hour in combination with discovergy, which means that of course the discovery smartmeter really does one one can show exactly when you used how much you really only pay the market price i.e.

The electricity market price and i think that’s really cool because you can always see in the tip how the electricity price is developing for today or for tomorrow as well of course, there are currently quite a few upward swings, but on the other hand, at the end of the year, of course, i don’t have this rude awakening that my electricity provider says so now you have to pay so and so many hundreds of euros, which is of course really cool with this tip I can cancel the whole thing monthly, which means if I'm not satisfied then I can leave so super Selen I find the support from the totally super and what is super interesting tipper also offers integrations for almost all common electric cars you can then say ok dear tip i am now connected to a tesla and charge the electric car if the electricity price falls below this value and then it is automatically charged, so that you then of course somehow benefit from a cheap electricity price at night.

On the other hand, I can then also integrate the discovergy smart meter and there are many other options, including the philips things can i integrate it so i have to say it's a round thing and if you're keen on the tipper app just have a look at the video description i've also included a link for you invitation code from me and if you put this invitation code in enter the app then you get 50 euros in the topic store and there you can, for example philips things also buy other things such as weather stations from netapp moi et cetera so just check out the video description and yes i hope that you enjoy it and that you might take a look at it i am as i said very satisfied and a short one Note at this point I am not paid for it by Zimmer I am simply convinced of him I think this is a great thing and you should also be happy to use it in the future because I know from the old electricity providers that communication was always very, very difficult and It always took an extremely long time.

I've sometimes had the case that if I ever had something at byd about which someone automatically answered me on Sunday in the chat and of course this is also a good indication that of course the meter reading me have to enter because you have the smart smart meter and then that could be easy is there s simply in the app and you really have a very good evaluation you can also see how you are performing compared to other households so that you can of course compete a bit with others, perhaps about users are all the information about the tipper app and the smart electricity tariff you will find another how describe next we come to the outside area or garden and outside area here I can of course also use smart lighting in the garden the intelligent yes the intelligent gave the intelligent garden lighting or be it my lawnmower robots or even my yes sprinkler system with which I can work or my irrigation system with which I can then work or also on topics such as the topic of surveillance with ip cameras from leo link but I will make another special video on the topic because you also have let's know what can show and I'm there too I want to show you a little bit of what I have already installed camera app surveillance systems and there are now also very good and cheap solutions then of course we also have a weather station here, for example about this where I then have current weather data in my can call up the house and can of course also set events or automation triggers, i.e.

If, for example, the wind gets too strong, the marquise automatically moves in or the roller shutters go up, or if it is too dry, for example, the smart garden irrigation then comes on automatically or naturally Even in the best case, the lawn is automatically cut again and again. Of course, you can regulate everything a bit afterwards and trigger the whole thing a bit. Of course, that's good if you have a weather station like that, which of course is also connected and of course smarties me hope I could help you with that give a little insight into how the whole thing can be thought of holistically with smarthome in your own home there are definitely many other things if you have anything else you say but you have to watch it again in any case feel free to write a comment under the video would me I'm interested in what's still there, of course, so as I said, there are thousands of smart devices that you can use to automate the smart home, so feel free to write a comment under this video the advantages of a smart home are, on the one hand, we have a simple installation, which means that for the most part no cables are required to lay anything, the whole thing works mostly wirelessly, which means i have no problems with having to lay lan cables somewhere against the corners and sensors the ones you know are usually battery-operated and so energy-saving that you might have to change the battery once a year when things get high and that makes the installation extremely easy compared to if you somehow do everything with the electrical installation you might not be that flexible then there are routines that you can easily program and what i think is cool i can think of a new routine at any time and say okay i 'll do it now and so on, when maybe i didn't think about it earlier when i was building my own home or when i was renovating it and i find it i think it makes a lot of sense that you can change the routines at any time i can create intelligent routines i can, for example, create a coming home function where i say when i come home with my smartphone this and that should happen i can use one switch to carry several devices at the same time and put a desired state that means I can really h also say okay i will switch on the light with the bank counter now you will switch it on and do other things and therefore also have the full flexibility which i might not have with a normal electrical installation at this point then things like digital timer that the christmas lights come on regularly or Even if I find myself on vacation, I can then of course also do routines so that it looks natural from the outside that someone is at home.

In addition, I also have the option of access when I'm on the go, which means I can also x tekken on my smartphone. Okay, what's happening right now at home when i'm not there how about is the postman in front of the door or no idea did the grass fall into the well or what i don't know what there you can always of course see what's happening at home i think that's just it a very, very good story in addition to the advantages, of course, I would also like h explain the challenges or the yes disadvantages a bit because that is obviously part of it let's start with the smart functions how often they are pointless i know that from my own experience i somehow bought a coffee machine where i can when i use the want to configure coffee can connect to the coffee machine via bluetooth, but the bluetooth module is unfortunately so bad and not fully developed that i have to stand my smartphone 10 cm in front of the coffee machine to configure it and then in my opinion it doesn't make sense that way what to call smart, because in the end I can just as well configure the whole thing on the machine, so you have to readjust a bit, just like with our dishwasher, for example, which somehow as an intelligent smart function can only count the tabs where I say Yes, I don't need that either, I think it would make a lot more sense here if you get an overview okay how much electricity they use and how much water they use because they are actually simple sensors that i can really easily connect to the pumps and can read out super via an app or also, for example, the robot lawn mower that just sort of I still can't position myself exactly or where you always have to put some weird twists even my vacuum cleaner robot can do it better now so there has to be a little more smart thinking with the manufacturers I think how do you think you have it since I've already had experience with it, I personally find it a bit annoying when I write about the manufacturer.

Hey, our great device somehow has WiFi and Bluetooth and then you look at the app and think oh God welcome to the 90s, I think that Unfortunately, unfortunately, is still a bit difficult to say that you just need a bit better developers who also build modern apps and of course there is also a bit that also runs sensibly in terms of user-friendliness with all the tricks then another challenge or disadvantage that the smart home naturally provides on the one hand it's cool if everything is last, on the other hand if you don't have internet at home then that could lead to another problem. the good thing is, for example, with smart lighting it's like that if of course there's internet somehow is and ca n't control it via the philips sap right now, then you can easily turn the light switch on or off and then you don't have it back to normal because it's basically the case that all smart lamps that have no electricity and are only switched on again at 100 tackle the percentage so that of course you have something if you need it, but is it always stupid if you z u don’t have internet at home and then it doesn’t work at all so i think that is now just as important as electricity and water that you have a stable and reasonable internet connection at home another point is, for example, the higher acquisition costs that i have if i now go to the For example, look at a normal LED light bulb and a smart one, then the costs are a bit higher and also precisely because if you want things from philips, then it is definitely the case that you have to spend a bit more money, which I mean I think that of course there are now also very cheaper systems coming onto the market, like we already have at IKEA with the tradition that's definitely a system where I say okay that's not too expensive anymore and you can really do that get into the topic of smart lighting or smart home very cheaply, then of course it's very clear what to do with every smart home topic as a n egative example is mentioned or the disadvantage is of course the data protection.

Of course you have to take a look what kind of app it is. I have some Chinese manufacturer American manufacturer who now has my data. Each of you has to decide for yourself that is handled and you simply have to consider whether you want it or not and how you can regulate it accordingly, that is up to you, but I would like to mention it again at this point for the sake of completeness, then one more point that maybe people know what smart life i me if i have such smart lamps, of course, the power must always be on so that the signal can of course also come through and of course the lamp can then, for example, also distribute the signal and for that you need Of course there is always a power supply and that is why you should always pay attention to it Of course you also have a certain amount of energy consumption, but it is really very, very low and is really within limits, so you don’t notice it at all, but on the other hand, of course, you also have access to the lamps at any time and of course you can use them also wonderful to control finally the question to you out there what smart home products do you already use what do you already use at home is there a product where he says woah you definitely have to take a look at them that's great that makes my smart home even smarter write that down in the comments below I would also be super happy if you would also subscribe to the channel and the bell will ring so that you will also be noticed as soon as I upload a new video and speaking of new video it will be the next in this series the topic of security cameras, i.e.

alpi cameras, i can already do that at this point, then we will e look at a few different solutions if i want to somehow secure my own home or maybe my property with security cameras what kind of solution is there and we'll take a look at that next time i thank you for watching and will already say it's fine until then bought it [music ].
