
For many years glaciologists puzzled over odd plume-like structures concealed deep within the Greenland Ice Sheet. Now a brand-new research study by researchers from the University of Bergen, NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and the University of Oxford recommends that these enigmatic functions are triggered by thermal convection, a procedure normally connected to the Earth’s mantle.
