Utilizing images from the LROC instrument onboard NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), researchers have actually found the most significant recently formed effect crater ever found in the Solar System. The crater, now called McGetchin, appeared on the Moon’s eastern edge in 2024.

Called for pioneering lunar researcher Tom McGetchin, the brand-new crater has to do with 222 m (728 feet) large and 43 m (141 feet) deep.
